Fellowship Opportunities
The goal of WARM is to build a future workforce in mine reclamation by providing students with on-the-ground, real-world experience in site assessment, remedial option evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and environmental regulatory framework. WARM is excited to announce a new fellowship program to bring opportunities to students and contribute financially to their education. WARM will allocate fellowships to graduate students and grants to undergraduate students studying relevant fields at the following Colorado universities: Western Colorado University, Colorado Mesa University, Fort Lewis Collage, and the Colorado School of Mines.
Graduate Student Fellowships
Fellowships will be offered to first year recipients in the amount of up to $5,000 with the potential for up to a $10,000 fellowship for the second year, conditioned on the student doing a master’s project or thesis with WARM and their performance. Master’s projects and thesis’s will be developed in conjunction with WARM and its member network of faculty and industry professionals.
First year Fellowship students are expected to do the following:
Participate in a reclamation course
Participate in field trips to network with professionals and learn about mine reclamation
Participate in at least two regional mining and reclamation conferences to learn about the field and represent WARM
Assist and/or oversee recruitment of additional students to the WARM network
Assist and/or oversee social media outreach for the organization
Assist and/or oversee maintaining and updating the WARM organization website
Assist and/or oversee creating newsletters, brochures, posters, and other publications for outreach
Attend a monthly meeting with Luke Danielson, Dave Ellerbroek, and the WARM VISTA
Attend WARM Board of Directors and Advisory Board Meetings
Collaborate with other WARM Fellows and students to achieve our shared goals
Second year students are additionally expected to complete their master’s project or thesis with WARM, within its mission and needs. The project/thesis will be identified at the end of the student’s first year with the deliverables outline by the Fellow, their mentor, and WARM Board Members Luke Danielson and Dave Ellerbroek. Students are expected to attend and engage in the monthly team meetings and all major events during this time well.

The application will open again in spring of 2023.
Undergraduate Student Grants
One-year grants will be offered to undergraduate students in the amount of up to $5,000.
During the one-year grant period, grant recipient students are expected to do the following:
